Obituary for Addie D. Perkins

Sister Addie Dean Hawkins Perkins was born to the late Deacon Augustus (Pet) Hawkins Sr. and Gathsemlia Baulkman Hawkins on July 18, 1934 in Bainbridge, Georgia, and Mrs. Dollies Burke Hawkins. She departed this earthy life on Tuesday, January 18, 2022.
She received Christ at an early age and was a faithful member of the First African Baptist Church where she served on the usher ministry and sang in the Choir until her health failed. She received her educational training in the Bainbridge, Georgia school System. Addie worked at the Griffin Memorial Hospital for many years as a Nurse and she worked at the Bainbridge Junior College for many years until her retirement.
She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Deacon Mose Perkins, September 25, 1955.
Sister Addie (Dean), as she was affectionately known and called by her family and friends is and will be greatly missed.
She is preceded in death by her parents Deacon Augustus and Gathsemlia Hawkins; Mrs. Dollie Burke Hawkins, one brother: Mr. James Hawkins and one Sister: Mrs. Agnes Cull.
Sister Addie Dean leaves to cherish her memories two brothers: Mr. Marcellas Hawkins of Rochester, NY; and a devoted brother Mr. Augustus Hawkins of Bainbridge, GA who cared for her tenderly; one sister: Bessie M. Smith of Washington, DC; Special niece: Thirsteen (James) Bing of Augusta, GA; Six Sister-in-laws: Mrs. Nora Johnson, Mrs. Bobbie Burke, Ms. Mattie Perkins all of Bainbridge, GA; Mrs. Mattie Hodges of Tallahassee, FL; Mrs. Juanita Beaman, and Ms. Cassandra Perkins, a Special Sister-in-law all of Rochester, NY; Alonza Perkins, a special nephew who she raised; a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
