Obituary for Alice Thomas
Alice Levern Thomas was born in Bainbridge, Georgia on July 21, 1954 to the Late Mr. Hutto Thomas and Mrs. Leanna Thomas. She was the 6th of 9 children; 2 preceded her in death. The Lord called her home on December 21, 2017.
Alice graduated from Bainbridge High School class of 1972. She attended Bainbridge College in the medical field. Her life was dedicated to helping and seeing about others. She worked for 15 years at the State Hospital in a supervisory capacity. She also worked at the Post Searchlight for 20 years delivering newspapers and several other jobs.
Alice accepted Christ at an early age and was a loyal and dedicated member of Bethlehem Freewill Baptist Church. Sister Alice Thomas served in many capacities at the Church. Sister Alice was a pillar of Bethlehem community, serving as the Secretary for the Church and Sunday school. She kept the Church and Annex in most neat and inviting manner.
Alice was a member of the New Freewill Baptist Church Conference where she held the position of Secretary for the Bainbridge District, treasurer for the Mission Department. In October 2017 she was elected Financial Secretary for the entire New Freewill Conference.
Alice leaves to cherish her wonderful memories three children: Reginald Freeman of Bainbridge, GA , Arlene (Gregory) McCullough of Cairo, GA ,and Amena (Warren) Freeman of Bainbridge, GA; six grandchildren: Gregory Jr., Jarvis, Destiny, Amaya, Amesha, and Ka’Deeja; her mother: Leanna Thomas; three brothers: Samuel (Dawn) Thomas, Johnell (Eunice) Thomas, and Fredrick (Arlene) Thomas; three sisters, Lillie (John) Simmons, Willie Pearl Thomas, and Charlene (Rodney) Williams; two aunts: Amanda Gaines and Patricia King and a host of nieces, and nephews, and special friends: Christine Robinson, Dimeter Jo Williams, and Curtis Burke.
