Sister Alice Leverne Heard was born August 21, 1942 to Floyd Waymon and Essie Lee Heard. She was the youngest of five children. She enjoyed gathering with her family and friends.
She gave her life to Christ at an early age where she joined Mt. Zion
M.B. Church in Cyrene, Ga. There she was a very devoted choir member. She later in life joined St. Paul M.B. church in Bainbridge, Ga and became a member of AOU (Adult Outreach Unlimited). She enjoyed attending until her health began to fail.
She was educated in the Decatur County School System and was a high school graduate of Hutto High School class of 1960. She later attended Albany State College (Albany State University) in Albany, GA.
She worked faithfully at United Plastics and Gilreth Industries for
over 22 years. She was a dedicated Quality Control Inspector and
Operator.
On Sunday February 19, 2017 Alice Leverne Heard transitioned from her earthly home to her heavenly home. She is preceded in death by her parents Floyd Waymon and Essie Lee Heard and her brother Robert D. Jones.
She leaves to cherish her memories three very devoted sisters Ollie
Mackey, Bainbridge, GA, Mary H. King, Miami, FL, and Jane E. McCain, Augusta, GA.
She also leaves to cherish her memories and stories are five children: Vincent Keith Johnson (Teri) Valdosta, GA; Derrell DeVaughn Johnson (Stephanie) Elmore, AL, Carmen LaTrece Carter (Garrett), Quitman, GA, Eric Maynard Heard, Bainbridge, GA, and Lori Ann Heard, Bainbridge, GA.
She leaves nine loving grandchildren to cherish memories and all her FaceTime moments, Justin T. Johnson (Atlanta, GA), and a special grandson that she raised as her own child, Darren D. Heard (Bainbridge, GA) ShaKimothy L. and Ariel S. Carter (Quitman, GA) Jessica M. Johnson (Pensacola, FL), Ashley N. Johnson (Elmore, AL), Anthony K. Johnson (Valdosta, GA) and LaTavious D. and Jordon A. Heard (Bainbridge, GA).
Most of all she will leave four precious and darling great grandchildren, Zion Carter (Quitman, Ga), Kason Heard (Quincy, FL), Paisley Johnson-Lloyd (Elmore, AL), and Darren Heard, II (Tallahassee, FL)
She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends to
reminisce with a lifetime of memories.
