Obituary for Anna Doris Emanuel
Her Story
Mother Anna Doris Emanuel was born on April 7, 1932 to the late Eugene and Versie Crump in Camilla, GA. Anna Doris knew the importance of an education and walked to church school every day with her siblings to learn as much as she could. She read her Bible every night, and any papers that were put in front of her for her signature. She instilled in her children the importance of getting a High School Education.
Mother Anna Doris married Willie C. Emanuel in December 1947, and to this union seven children were born. Her husband Willie C. and two of her children: Cynthia Ann Robinson and Theo Otis Emanuel preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by brothers: Eugene Jr, Henry, Johnny Lee , Robert Crump and CJ, sisters: Mary Ann Cummings, Irene Pate and Elsie Whitfield.
Mother Anna Doris was widowed at a young age and raised her seven children alone. She also raised her oldest grand child Charlotte Robinson, and nephew Johnny Crump.
Anna Doris joined the Saint Mark Missionary Baptist Church in Camilla, GA as a young girl and served as an Usher for many years. She later moved her membership to Greater Saint Mark Baptist Church a few miles down the road where she continued to serve as an Usher. She was a confidant to her church members. What you told her in confidence stayed in confidence.
It was nothing for her to clean the houses of others who could no longer clean for themselves.
In her early years, Mother Anna Doris loved gardening, flowers, and creating a pretty yard. Her yard when she lived on Goodson Road was a showstopper.
She could be seen in her declining years raking and sweeping her yards. in her early years, Mother Anna Doris sewed on her Singer sewing machine making dresses for her daughters and curtains for her home.
She also made necessity quilts for her children to keep them warm in the Winter. Mother Anna Doris could make a hearty meal for her family out of almost nothing. When her children were growing up she would cook seven cakes for them at Christmas. Each child's favorite cake, from scratch. Anna Doris worked at the Riverview Plantation Camilla, GA for over thirty years until her retirement in 2011.
Mother Anna Doris answered The Masters Call on Wednesday, July 22, 2020 to eternal rest. She will surely be missed.
