Her Life Story …From Labor to Reward
A TIME TO BE BORN

Backey, Ophelia Hale, Isaac Burns, Nancy Catherine Hodges, Jessie Nelson Burns, Mam Ann Powell, Nora Jane Miller, Marzene Thomas, Lossie Howard and Odessa Burns—preceded her in death.
A TIME TO COMMITMENT
Mrs. Jones accepted CHRIST at an early age and was baptized at Springfield Missionary Baptist Church, where she remained a member until relocating to Albany, Georgia. Upon her permanent relocation to Albany, she joined Mount Zion Baptist Church, serving faithfully for many years as a member of the Chorus Choir, Willing Workers Club and Women’s Mission.
A TIME TO BUILD UP
Though only achieving a seventh grade education, Mrs. Jones believed very strongly in education, and as an adult attended and graduated Washington Beauty Culture School in Albany. Additionally, she worked two to three domestic jobs to send two of her sisters to Albany State College, an accomplishment for which she and her family are very proud. Mrs. Jones retires at age 89 as a beautician and owner of Jones Beauty Shop.
A TIME TO REJOICE
She cherished her children whom she affectionately referred to as “her pigs”. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who was intimately involved in all aspects of their lives. The birth mother of Doris Burns (deceased) and Janice Crawford surrogate mother of Kristle Mathis, she had an active in rearing several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great- nephews. There was always room in her house for someone to sleep or feast at her table. She found great joy in working in her yard, be it tending her many flowers, pulling weeds, or just admiring the beauty of God’s Handiwork in nature.
A TIME TO MOURN
On May 22, 2020, THE LORD said, ’ Come Home MY child and be at Rest. You have fought a good fight, and kept the faith now enter into THE MASTER’S Joy.’
She leaves many precious and loving memories to be cherished by her family and friends who mourn her passing but rejoice in her transition to our HEAVENLY FATHER-namely, her daughter Janice Thomas Crawford (Carlton); granddaughters Carmen Love and Lynsei Love; special nieces Brenda Byrd (Charles) and Kristle Mathis (Larry), special great-great nieces Krisynda Mathis, K’lia Mathis and Kourtney Mathis; several additional nieces and nephews; and a host of great and great-great nieces and nephews.
