Obituary for Annie M. Hall
Annie Mae (Kimble) Hall was born on June 15, 1915 in Seminole County, Georgia to the late Drew and Minnie (Bates) Kimble. She was the youngest among four siblings. Annie often lived with her grandmother as a youngster because they were similar in nature and her grandmother was very fond of her. She learned real life skills through her grandmother. Annie learned and loved gardening, canning, cooking, quilting and growing house plants. She could make a patched padded quilt in one week. She also had a qualifying green thumb for growing plants of all sorts. Annie was blessed with two daughters before she was joined in Holy Matrimony to Waymon Howard. To that union three children were born. Shortly after the birth of her youngest child, her husband passed away and was left to raise five children with the guidance and support of her mother. During this time Annie started attending Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church where she became a faithful and supportive member. In 1946, she met and married Jack Hall. They united and integrated a family of eight children. To this union, two girls and four boys were born; bringing the children count to 13. Jack moved his family to Boykins, Georgia to his guardian farm where he had a house with property and farm animals to support his large family. Her role in the Hall household was to perform duties as a wife and caretaker of her children. In 1955, the family moved from the country to the City of Bainbridge, Georgia. It was at this time five of the eldest children left home and journeyed into adulthood to support themselves. Annie was always investing in other people; she would cook and feed many of the neighbors and the children's playmates. She had a very compassionate heart; she loved people and would help or share anything that she had acquired. Before her illness in 1999, she would make and sell mint juleps to the neighborhood children all year round. She also sold beverages and snacks to those in the neighborhood. In 1999, Annie was admitted to the hospital where she had a massive stroke. She stayed in the hospital for a short period of time before she had a second stroke and entered into a comatose state. The doctors gave up on her life and placed her into Seminole Manor. The staff nursed her back to health and she became highly functioning mentally and socially until her death. However, she was unable to walk but she did much talking and socializing with staff, community members, visitors and family/friends. While in the nursing home, she would advocate for other patients as well as herself. Annie always had a seat at the front door of the nursing home where she would greet everyone who entered the door daily. She knew so many people from the community who came to the home. Each third Sunday she would dress in her white suit for Missionary Sunday and fellowship with the missionaries. She loved to dress every day and would put on a hat and her matching beads daily. Annie was described by the nursing home staff as kind, sweet, loving and always had an upbeat spirit. She would often remind staff when they did not speak to her on any given day; they would apologize, acknowledge her and give her a hug and/or kiss. Annie never grew weary or tired being in the home. While there she was so smart, alert and sharp as a whip. When she went out with family she would always want to return to the home before 5:00 to meet the evening staff and prepare for bedtime. She will really be missed by her family, friends, and staff at the nursing home. Annie went peacefully to be with the Lord on March 24, 2015. She is predeceased by her parents Drew and Minnie Kimble; husband Jack Hall; grandmother Mattie Bates; one brother Gene Kimble; two sisters Jessie McKenzie and Willary Howard; four children Margaret Hall, Murray Hall, Irene (Pinkie) Hopkins and Ruby Taylor. She leaves to cherish fond memories of all of her children: five sons Ernest Hall, Ulysses (Ethel) Howard, Johnnie Hall, William Hall and Sylvester (Gabriele) Hall; five daughters Jessie Hobbs, Truddie Howard, Bessie Reed, Susie Harris and Georgia Hall; two special nieces Luester Hooper and Jackie Daniels; a host of nieces and great nieces and nephews; 36 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 6 great, great grandchildren and a host of other relatives, church family, nursing home staff/family and friends.
