July 3, 1966 – September 6, 2017
On July 3, 1966, God rolled back his heavenly clouds, shared his enormous love and gave us an angel whom we knew as Anthony Camerio Harrell. Anthony was a devoted son, a compassionate brother, a loving husband and father, a passionate co-worker, and a caring friend.
With his infectious smile, he warmed the hearts of others and brought sunshine every day. At an early age, Anthony displayed a gentle and caring spirit. He loved everyone and never met a stranger. During his lifetime he radiated a loving and adoring spirit for others.
Anthony was the eighth child born to Inez and Carsmore Harrell, Sr. He shared a special bond with his brother, Oscar Harrell. Anthony was baptized at Second Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church where he participated in Sunday school, the Junior Choir and all areas of the church. Growing up in the church and watching his family praise the Lord gave him a lifelong mission of devoting his life to Christ.
Continuing the tradition of active church involvement, Anthony was a member of the Deacon Board, he was the Sunday School Superintendent, President of the Male Choir, President of the Layman’s Ministry, Recording Secretary and Finance Committee member at Second Morning Star MB Church. Additionally, he was the Treasurer in the First Flint River Union, and held several offices in the First Flint River Missionary Baptist Association; Scholarship Committee Board member, Finance Committee Member, and Treasurer of the Association.
Coming from a family of lifelong learners, including his sisters and some uncles and aunts, he knew that he would someday follow in their footsteps. After graduating from Bainbridge High School in 1984, Anthony enrolled at Tuskegee University in Tuskegee, AL where he pursued his dream of becoming a technical engineer. Anthony immediately began his career, working for CSX Railroad as an engineer. He would later be employed by the Leon County Schools and was a Supervisor in the Technology Information Systems Department until his untimely death.
On December 3, 2000 Anthony and Gloria were wed. This union produced a son, Tyler Harrell, as well as sealed a love affair that sustained them through years of joy, laughter, and difficulties. Anthony was a wonderful husband who created a loving, supportive, and safe home for his family.
Anthony’s other affiliations included membership in the Calvary Lodge #389 PHA where he was the recording secretary. He was also a partner in the AOA Event Center in Attapulgus, Georgia.
On September 6, 2017, God sent his angels to free Anthony from his brief battle of an injury sustained while riding his motorcycle and to bring him home to rest.
