With love and gratitude, we celebrate the life of Arthur Jones, Jr., a man of faith, service, and unwavering devotion to family. Born on June 27, 1936, in Grady County, Georgia, he was the beloved son of the late Arthur Jones, Sr. and Mrs. Amie Maxwell Jones.
Arthur’s journey led him to the Bronx, New York, where he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and received his education in the public school system. With a strong sense of duty, he proudly served his country in the United States Army for two years. Following his military service, he built a dedicated career with BellSouth, now known as AT&T, before retiring. Later, he embraced the peaceful surroundings of Ormond Beach, Florida,.
Arthur was blessed to share 30 years of marriage with Cheryl Akins, cherishing a bond built on love and companionship. In 2010, he made the heartfelt decision to return to Bainbridge, Georgia, to be closer to his family. As his health declined, he found comfort and care at Southern Pines Assisted Living Facility in Thomasville, Georgia, where he remained until his peaceful transition.
On February 6, 2025, Arthur quietly departed this life at Archbold Hospital in Thomasville, Georgia. He was welcomed into eternal rest by his parents, Arthur Jones, Sr. and Amie Maxwell Jones; his maternal grandparents, John and Idella Maxwell; his aunts, Mary Williams, Roberta Gibson, and Montrola Paramore; and his uncles, Lonnie William, Jessie Maxwell, Remark Maxwell and Oscar Maxwell.
Arthur’s memory will forever be cherished by his devoted cousin, Earline Bryant of Attapulgus, Georgia; his loving siblings, brothers, Andrew David Jones, Willie Arthur Jones, and Angelo Dennis Jones; his caring sisters, Edythe Ginlack and Marilyn Jackson; and a host of other dear cousins, family members, and lifelong friends who will continue to carry his love in their hearts.
Arthur’s legacy of kindness, strength, and faith will never be forgotten. Though he is no longer with us in body, his spirit will live on in the countless lives he touched. We take comfort in knowing that he now rests in God’s eternal peace.
