Mother Betty Jean Butler was born in Camilla, GA to the late Rev. George Brown and Henrietta Brown. She moved to Cairo, GA in the 1990s. On Friday night September 22, 2017 at her home in Calvary, GA Our Lord and Savior whispered to her “come on home with me; no more pain, suffering or illness, “peace”.
She confess Christ at an early age to Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Camilla, GA she served as a Sunday School teacher for over 30 years and a deaconess. She labored for the Lord. Later in life she became a member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Bainbridge, GA.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Rev. George and Henrietta Brown, her husband: Jerry D. Butler Sr., son: Jerry Butler Jr. and daughter: Annette Butler.
She leaves to cherish her memories: two daughters: Margaret Carter of Bainbridge, GA; Alicia (Dimas) of Calvary, GA; Three sons: Holcombe (Sherry) Butler of Cairo, GA; Reginald (Edna) Butler of Bainbridge, GA; Willie (Elaine) Butler of Bainbridge, GA; Four sisters: Thelma Brown Riggins of Camilla, GA; Julia Brown of Camilla, GA; Onita Waylon of NY; Hazel Brown of PA; One brother: Ernest Brown of Camilla, GA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren, relatives and friends.
