Obituary for Betty Lou Bell Lowe
Betty Lou Bell Lowe was born in Bainbridge, Georgia on August 8, 1935 to the late Luther Bell Sr. and Gracie Mae Davis Bell. Betty received her education in Decatur County Schools. She met Simon Lowe Jr. in Bainbridge Georgia. They entered holy matrimony on May 4, 1962. Then they moved to Rochester, NY that same year. In Rochester, she became employed at Armour, Tobins packing and then started her career at Eastman Kodak Co. Betty received her cosmetology license from Continental Beauty School in 1965. She was a professional beautician part-time while she worked at Kodak full-time until she retired in 1989. Betty loved to cook and take her nieces shopping. She loved spending time with her family and occasionally tried to kidnap her siblings babies to keep as her own. There was one who she was able to keep, Lynette, who she raised until the age of 17. Many of her nieces lived with her from time to time. She loved all her nieces and nephews. Betty attended Mt. Olivet Missionary Baptist of Kendall, New York, Aenon Missionary Baptist Church then Triedstone Missionary Baptist Church after moving to Rochester untilshe and her husband, Pastor Simon Lowe Jr.,founded United Missionary Baptist Church in 1977. Betty was a devoted First Lady, Missionary and Mother; she was Godmother to many. On Wednesday, December 17, 2014 Betty was called home to spend eternity in heaven with her Precious Lord. Betty is predeceased by her siblings, Willie Davis, Freddie Bell, Rosa Mae Rambo and Luther Bell Jr.; Her in-laws Simon Sr., L.C. and Ralph Lowe and Mary Alice Tomlin. Betty Lou Lowe leaves to cherish her memories; her husband of 52 years, Pastor Simon Lowe, Jr., sister Mary Dixon, brother-in-law Artis Rambo Sr., adopted daughter, Lynette (Carl) McGee, adopted grandchildren Lynae and Carlton Jr., mother-in-law Mrs. Dollie Mae Lowe, aunts, Juanita Hunter, Ludene McKinney, Jerridine Johnson many godchildren, and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
