Obituary for Carla M. Carter


Sister Carla Miranda Carter entered this world on April 8, 1952, in Bainbridge, Georgia, and was welcomed by her late parents, Mr. Willis C. Carter, Jr. and Mrs. Geraldine Austin Carter. She gained her heavenly wings on April 3, 2024.


Carla confessed to Christ at an early age and worshiped at Nelson Chapel A.M.E Church in Bainbridge, Georgia and Bethel A.M.E Church in Attapulgus, Georgia.


Her early education was in the Decatur County Public Schools, and she graduated from Hutto High School before pursuing higher education at Albany State College.


Professionally, Carla dedicated many years to the Decatur County Seminole Training Center, until she retired.


Carla was a songstress with a beautiful soprano voice. She enjoyed watching soap operas and basketball.


Carla was a beloved sister, daughter, niece, cousin, aunt, and friend. Her compassionate nature and generosity touched many lives and will forever be remembered.


She was preceded in death by her father: Willis C. Carter, Jr. her mother: Geraldine A. Carter; paternal: grandparents Willie C. Carter, Sr. and Mrs. Johnnie Mae Sherman Carter; maternal grandparents: James Roosevelt Austin, Sr. and Mrs. Edith Beatrice Austin; her sister: Marlene L. Carter and brothers: Larry J. Carter, Sr. and Jerard R. Carter.


Carla's memory will be cherished by those she leaves behind. Survivors include her devoted brother: Terrance V. Carter (Brenda) of Bainbridge, GA; aunts: Marilyn A. Wade, Mamie T. Austin both of Attapulgus, GA and Christine M. Austin of Atlanta, GA; nieces: Madyson T. Carter, Jasmyne O. Samuel, and Candace M. Sledge; nephews: JerRon Robinson, Larry J. Carter, Jr., and Aaron R. Carter; god-sister Mae-Jeanette Robinson; cousins: Sondra W. Lippett and Myra J. Evans; and a host of cousins and other family members and friends.

Her spirit and love will continue to inspire those who knew her, as she now sings with the angels.
