Clara Louise Woodson-Goode-Harden
Clara Louise Williams was born March 30, 1924 to Irene Highsmith Williams (Barker) and George Arthur Williams in Chattahoochee, Florida. Their only child peacefully went home to be with the Lord on March 25, 2021 at the Golden age of 96.
Clara was educated in the Florida Public School System.
She continued her education at Florida Normal University a private HBCU College for two years. She attended Bethume Cookman University where she earned her (Bachelor Degree in (ECE) Early Childhood Education.
While at Florida Normal University she met George W. Woodson Sr. They were married and from this union James Warren Woodson and George Wilson Woodson Jr. were born. Later George moved his family to Philadelphia, Pa where Thawanna P.W. Woodson was born. Several years later the family moved to Wilmington, Delaware. Then Clara suffered two devastating losses. Her son George (Jr.) was killed in the Army while in Vietnam 1969 then her husband passed in 1971.
Growing up in Chattahoochee, Florida, Clara attended the Greater Bethel Missionary Baptist Church with her grandparents the Rev. and Mrs. J.E. Highsmith. It was there in1940 when she accepted Christ as her personal savior. Clara loved the Lord and always kept Him first in her life. When she moved to Delaware she attended Tabernacle Baptist Church under late Rev. Gregory. Later she joined the Union Baptist Church under late Rev. Dr. Otis Herring. She was a faithful member. She loved singing on the choir, ushering, Missionary Board or anywherelse she was needed. Clara just loved being in the service of the Lord.
Once relocating to Wilmington, Delaware Clara was employed with
(Delmar) United News Journal as a distribution manager. She later left and joined Christiana/Wilmington Hospital as a Medical Transcriptionists and Supervisor/Manager of the medical records till her retirement.
Years later in Delaware she met and married Orlando Goode. After their marriage ended they continued to be
friends until he passed.
Clara enjoyed her life filled with so many enjoyable moments. She was a Diva fashion statement in every way. She had outfits for every occasion which started from her head to her toes. Every outfit included complete accessories as well as her custom made hats. Traveling was her hobby. Visiting Jerusalem was one of the highlights of her life. She loved to travel and experience new cultures. Clara loved good preaching and good gospel music. She always enjoyed good food especially her crabs and seafood. Clara adored her children and grandchildren. She played a major role in helping to raise her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was always present at any special occasions In their lives. Clara had a very special bond with all her step-children and step- grandchildren as well as those who adopted her as grandmom. There was just something special about her.
Clara loved to visit her home and relatives in Chattahoochee, Florida. While attending a class reunion she reunited with her highschool sweetheart Luke Harden. At age 66 this beautiful vibrant Diva was united in holy matrimony with a big lavish wedding at the Union Baptist Church 1991. They relocated to Donasonville, Georgia and purchased a home. They joined Macedonia Baptist Church where they were both very active members. Their union of love continued until Luke passed away in 2005.
When Clara's health changed she spent more time in New Jersey with her loving son and with her loving daughter in Atlanta. Georgia. Later she left New Jersey and returned home to Donasonville, Georgia with her loving daughter where she remained till God called her home.
Her memory will be forever cherished by her loving son
