Brother Clarence Harris was born on April 5, 1926 to the late Burley and Lillia (Jackson) Harris in Amsterdam, Georgia. He passed away peacefully into eternal rest on Sunday, February 18, 2018 at home in Attapulgus, Georgia.
He was educated at Mt. Moriah in Attapulgus, Georgia.
He was converted at an early age and joined Smith Grove M.B. Church in Amsterdam where he served faithfully under the Pastorage of Rev. S.E. Nealy.
He was united in Holy matrimony to Earlene (Sister) DuPont Harris and from this union five children were born.
Clarence’s parents instilled in him the value of being gainfully employed as a small child.
Clarence was never an idle man, always being employed as a dependable laborer with companies such as Dorsey Farms in Havana, Florida and Parramore farms in Quincy Florida. He spent the last 40 years with Mr. and Mrs. Leroy (Waldine) Scott and their son Terril Scott of Scott Farms in Brinson, Georgia until his health began to decline in January 2018.
He was preceded in death by his wife; Earlene (Sister) DuPont Harris; three sons: Rudolph Wilson, Bobby Harris, and Robert Harris; daughter: Margie Harris; two grandchildren: Duriel Harris Sr., and Tyronnica Hill.
He leaves to cherish his most precious memories: two daughters, Cathy Thomas and Sarah Riles of Attapulgus, GA; One sister: Anna Akins of Tallahassee, FL; daughter-in-law: Annie Ruth Wilson of Attapulgus, GA; brother-in-law: Ralph DuPont; Nine grandchildren: Janet (Harold) Williams, Bobby (Annette) Harris, Tangela (Perry) Madge, LaCountess Thomas, LaBarron Thomas, Antonio Riles Sr., Charles Riles Jr., Laquanta Riles, and Shalanda Baker; Twenty-two great grandchildren, thirteen great-great grandchildren; Many, many, many special nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and family members.
