Obituary for Deacon Johnnie Robinson
Deacon Johnnie "Walkie Talkie" Robinson, born El Davis Robinson, December 25, 1932, in Miller County, Georgia to the late Buster and Elnora Robinson. He confessed Christ at an early age and joined First Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church. Johnnie married the late Vera Hayes Robinson and together they raised four children. Mr. Johnnie was always a hard-working man who was not afraid to get his hands dirty. By day he farmed and at night he was employed at Elberta Crate and Box Company. He was also a partial business owner of a juke joint known as "The Shakedown." He left the farm and moved to town to join the Kelly Tire Company team which later transitioned to what is now known as Delta Tire Company. He served the community for fifty two years being known as the face of Delta Tire. He leaves to cherish his memories, one daughter, , Charlease Barkley, Macon, Georgia; three sons, Larry D. Robinson (Gretchen) Delta, Pennsylvania; Johnny Ray Robinson (Paula), Charlotte, N.C., Carlton D. Robinson (Leslie), Bainbridge, Georgia. Also cherishing his memory are ten grandchildren, Latashia, Jovonte, Rayetta (Morris), Larry T (Delia), Melton, LaShundra, Kiel, Cartisha, Jasmine and Mercedes and a host of great grandchildren, one brother, Ransom Jackson (Lois), Jacksonville, Florida, two sisters, Rossie Robinson, Tallahassee, Florida and Inell Washington, Jacksonville, Florida and a host of nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by one sibling, Robert B. Haire.
