Life Reflections of Deacon Melvin Clark
Melvin Clark was born on May 05, 1945, in Birds Point, MO to the late Johnny A. Clark and the late Molly Clark. He was the seventh out of thirteen siblings born to this union.
He graduated from Dunbar High School in Chicago Il, and went on to work for Warner Co.
He accepted Christ at an early age and joined Calvary Missionary Baptist church.
He met, dated and later married Sufronia Y. Dumas on August 05, 1968 and to this union, two sons were born Melvin E. Clark and Jeffrey V. Clark.
After joining New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, in Chicago Heights, he was ordained as a deacon in 1982, under the leadership of Rev. Hosea Edwards.
After being employed by Stauffer Chemical for several years, Melvin decided to obtain his Certification in Welding and became a journeyman welder for the local union 597.
After Melvin and his wife Sufronia both retired they relocated to Bainbridge GA. And joined St. Paul M.B.C. where he was instated as a Deacon in 2007.
In the early morning hours on Wednesday March 25, 2026, after an illness, the Master said “It’s all over, servant well done…. come home and rest.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories, his loving and devoted wife Sufronia Y. Clark, Bainbridge Ga, his sons Melvin E Clark (Brenda S Clark) Minnetonka, Mn and Jeffrey Y. Clark (Stephanie D. Clark) Crest Hill, Il. Five grandchildren, Surene S. Clark, Robbinsdale MN, Brevin A. Clark, Minnetonka MN, Gavin A. Clark, Minnetonka Mn, Jeffree D. Clark and Kai V. Clark Crest Hill, Il and William Magee Joliet Il and Justin Magee Joilet Il and Great Grandson Marze A. Clark Minnetonka MN. Sisters, Mary Johnson, Peoria Il and Jenette Taylor (William Taylor) South Holland Il, Brother Eugene Clark, Chicago Il and host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
