Celebrating the Life of
Dewayne Lamar “Showtime” Baker
Sunrise: March 21, 1975 Sunset: March 27, 2025
Dewayne Lamar Baker, affectionately known as “Showtime,” was born on March 21, 1975, in Bainbridge, Georgia, to the late Arthur Lee Baker and Patricia Baker McNair. March 27, 2025, Dewayne peacefully gained his heavenly wings.
At an early age, Dewayne accepted Christ and joined New Freedom Christian Ministries in Bainbridge, Georgia. He was educated in the Decatur County public school system and proudly graduated with the Class of 1994. Dewayne furthered his education at Tallahassee Community College, where he earned certification in Culinary Arts and also pursued studies in Criminal Justice.
His love for cooking blossomed into a successful career. Dewayne began working at Golden Corral Steakhouse, then moved on to Old Time Country Buffet, and ultimately served over 21 years as a Top Chef at Siam Sushi in Tallahassee, Florida.
A die-hard Los Angeles Lakers fan, Dewayne was not only dedicated to his career but was also known for his incredible work ethic. Even as a young man, he would wake up early to do yard work before heading off to school.
Though his passion was cooking, Showtime was a man of many talents—an expressive poet, a creative artist, and a natural comedian who could bring laughter to any room. His lifelong dream was to own his own food truck, affectionately named “Little Man Food on Wheels.”
Dewayne was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Lee Baker; his paternal grandmother, Alberta Baker; maternal grandmother, Eliza Hayes Stewart; and his brother, Arthur McNair of Miami, FL.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with his children: Danielle Emily Baker, David Dwayne Baker; Gretna, FL; Marquez Lamar Baker; Tallahassee, FL; siblings: Terrence Baker; Bainbridge, GA, Greg McNair; Miami, FL, Audria Watson, Ashley Caldwell (Tavares), and April Lewis; all of Bainbridge, GA; his loving mother: Patricia McNair (Alexander); one beloved grandson: Ky’Zir Baker; his god-sister, Jaylah; and a host of extended family and friends who will miss him deeply.
Dewayne’s light, laughter, and legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
