Remembering the life of
BROTHER DON “WOODAH” BENNETT
Brother Don Bennett, affectionately known as “Woodah,” was born to the late Dan and Annie Will Bennett of Bainbridge, GA on August 23, 1944. He departed this life on the afternoon of August 21, 2023, at home surrounded by family and friends.
He gained his education in the Decatur County school system and attended Thomas Technical College where he studied brick masonry. “Woodah” retired from the Bainbridge State Hospital after working there for many years. After his retirement he began working at Hutto Middle school as a custodian for a few more years.
As an adult he joined Smith Grove Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Levi Kelly. He loved serving people in the community by providing transportation to different local places. He was very freehearted and very well known in the community. He loved to spend time with his family and friends and reminiscing about people from the Pear Orchid.
Don leaves to cherish his memories two loving sisters: Earlyne Munson (Ronald) of Albany, GA, and Vivian Willis (Larry) of Bainbridge, GA; nephews: Dan Gary, Shelby, Larry, Jr. (Spanky), and Darren; nieces: Tina, Teresa, Tara, Shelia, Shenel, Sheryl, Nina, and Reynelda (Moosey); a special great nephew: Henry (Za), a special niece: Keely, and a special great great niece: Ivory (Nari); and a host of other special relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: Dan and Annie Will Bennett and his brothers: Dan Bennett III, Terry Bennett, and Philip Bennett.
