Obituary for Dorothy Mae McKelvey
Sister Dorothy M. Jackson McKelvey was born May 3, 1933 in Decatur County, Georgia to the late Everlena Jackson and Gaino Jackson. �� She received her education from the Decatur County Public Schools and went on to be employed at the Bainbridge Memorial Hospital and Manor for many years until she retired in 1992. ��Mrs. Dot as she was affectionately called by friends accepted Christ at an early age was baptized and joined the St. Paul Primitive Baptist Church under the pasturage of Reverend Stephens. She was a faithful member who served on the usher board for many years. She also served on the kitchen committee and a member of the OES Chapter #253. ��During the early hours of May 29, 2015 she departed her earthly life at the Donalsonville Hospital in Donalsonville, Georgia. ��She was married to late Henry McKelvey and to this union seven children were born. ��She had three sons to precede her in death Charles and Alvin McKelvey and Hayward Murray. ��She leaves to mourn and cherish her memories a loving husband: Tommie Butler of Donalsonville, GA; Four daughters: Annie Redding of Attapulgus, GA; Cecelia Kimble of Bainbridge, GA; Jennifer McKelvey and Latoria McKelvey of Tallahassee, FL; a son: Raymond McKelvey of Attapulgus, GA; Step daughter: Addie Rogers of Fowlstown, GA; Two daughter-in-laws: Pasty McKelvey of Bainbridge, GA; Sandra Murray of Savannah, GA; Sister in law: Ruby Dale Jackson of Orlando FL; Eleven grandchildren and Eighteen great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and close friends.
