Obituary for Dorothy Y. Screen
Remember a Blessed Life
On March 23rd 1953 Dorothy Yvonne Hodges was presented to this world by the late James Hodges and Dorothy Virginia Allman Hodges.
Dorothy accepted Christ at an early age as her personal Lord and Savior. As a member of St. John A.M.E Church, she and her family served the Lord with love and devotion.
She attended Carter Parramore Academy and graduated from James A Shanks High School in 1971.
On September 12th, 1971 Dorothy was united in Holy Matrimony to Seluves (Celson) Bernard Screen. They would go on to spend the next 48years of her life together. She was the perfect wife. The most loving of all mothers. The proudest of all grandmothers. Dorothy Yvonne Hodges Screen became the glue that held her family together, the ties that held the tracks strong and right, the light that showed them the way, the teacher that taught them the ways of the world, the pillars of her family’s foundation. Dorothy nurtured and cared for her family until her last breath on February17th, 2018 when our Lord called her home. As the wife of a career Army soldier, Dorothy and SMG Screen traveled the world together. She became the definition of what it is to be an Army wife. Throughout their Military career Dorothy and Seluves met a plethora of friends that would best be described as family. A family of friends that continued to grow once she graced the city of Warner Robins, Georgia in June 2001. Dorothy retired from the Defense Commissary Agency on December 30th, 2017 where she served the Military and her community for 31 years. Her work ethic was unmatched, her dedication inspiring. Dorothy touched the lives of everyone that came into her presence. She had an irresistibly infectious smile that would brighten the darkest of days. She was too kind, too sweet, and meant so much to those that knew her.
She leaves behind her husband of Forty-Eight years: Seluves Bernard Screen; Three children: Celavecia Armana Screen Peppers, Cameron Bursel Screen and Celson Bernard Screen Jr. Five grandchildren: Daquille Lemond Peppers, Briana D’nae Peppers, Darius Antwon Peppers, Jayla Ariana Owens, Jasmine Ayana Owens; two brothers: James Hodges and Haywood Hodges; and many close friends, nieces, nephews and cousins.
