Obituary for Eddie James Rogers
Eddie James Rogers "Uncle Eddie" as he was affectionately called, was born into the loving arms of his mother Anna Mae Rogers and to his father Joe Cecil Rogers. As a young child, he accepted Christ and joined First A. B. Church in West Bainbridge. He attended the public school system of Decatur County, graduating from Bainbridge High School in 1980. Eddie loved to play basketball and was a member of the Bainbridge High basketball team until he graduated. After high school he began working at Amoco Fabrics, where he remained for a number of years, before joining the United Stated Air Force. Eddie served his country for over 20 years before his retirement. To have known him was to love him. Even when his health began to fail, he would still remain strong. His faith in God never lingered and his loyalty to family was everlasting. Eddie fought a brave battle but God knew his soldier was tired and ready to come home. He leaves us with fond memories and many happy times. His memory lives on with his wife, Ursula Carter Rogers; son, Caleb Rogers of Glen Burnie, MD ; daughter, Tyisha Carter of Aiken, SC; father, Joe Cecil Rogers, siblings, Elizabeth Collier of Atlanta, GA, Cecil Rogers (Marianna) of Dallas, TX, Herbert Rogers of Bainbridge, GA, Larry Rogers (Gwen) of Valdosta, GA, Ronald Rogers of Valdosta, GA, Theodore Rogers, and Carol Rogers of Bainbridge, GA; and many uncles, aunts, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Anna Mae Rogers; grandparents, Rev. H. B. and Bertha Lee Jeffery.
