Obituary for Elma Joyce Baker

Mother Elma Joyce Howard Baker, was born October 22, 1930 in Lakeland, FL was the daughter of the late Charlie Howard and Zelma L. West-Howard. Joyce, as she was affectionally known, received her education and graduated from Brinson Vocational High School.
Joyce accepted Christ at an early age. She later married the late Isaiah H. Baker and moved to Bainbridge, Georgia. Here she faithfully attended Greater Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church where she served in the Jubilee Choir and on the Usher Board. She later moved her membership to St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, where she attended faithfully until her health declined.
Joyce volunteered at Bainbridge Memorial Hospital as a “Gray Lady” for many years. She also participated in many activities at the Senior Citizens Center.
Joyce departed her earthly life early Friday morning, January 26, 2018, at Bainbridge Memorial Hospital. She will truly be missed, but as Paul says in Philippians 1:23 “I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far” Joyce is preceded in death by one son: Stanley Baker; two brothers: Thomas and Charles Howard; and one sister: Kathyrn Hunter.
She leaves to cherish her memories six children: Anita, Cheryl (Jerome), Marsha (Tommy Sr.), Peggy (Allen), Leisa and Penny; Nine grandchildren: Keishia, Toriano (Kim), Tommy Jr., Allison (Titamus), Jarrett Sr., Stanley, Eric, Damonis, and MarShawn; four great-grandchildren: Natoria, Natonya, Jarrett Jr. and Asiya; Three sister-in-laws: Johnnie Baker, Bernice Pugh and Katie Baker; Special friend of the family: Lucille Keaton; devoted friend: Louis C. Coleman Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
