Obituary for Elvira Josey
Sister Elvira Mims Josey was born April 25, 1924 in Bradford, Florida to the late Isaac and Charity Mims. She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Saint Stephens African Methodist Episcopal Church in Hannatown, Georgia. She was educated in the Gadsden County School System. On April 15, 1942, she joined in holy matrimony to the late Willie B. Josey. To this union was born six children. She was preceded in death by her children Samuel Eugene Josey, Linda Marie Josey, and Emma Lee Griffin; siblings: Rena McMillian, Luretha Freeman, Reverend Willie Mims, Hattie Mae Kirkland, Albert Mims, Isaac Mims, Jr., and David Mims; and great-granddaughter Marissa Martenilli She leaves to mourn her passing and cherish her memories three children: Jacquelyn Hines, Elvira V. Josey, both of Decatur, Georgia, and Leonard Josey (Jean) of Albany, New York; three sisters: Mary Griffin (Jimmie) of Bainbridge, Georgia; Eula Mae Lane and Eula C. Pate both of Syracuse, New York; Eleven grandchildren, Thirty-two great grandchildren, and Five great-great grandchildren; host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who loved her.
