Obituary for Elvis Moore
~Obituary~
Saturday morning, February, 18, 2017 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, God looked down on this earth and saw a weary face; our beloved Brother Elvis Moore was called to his heavenly home.
At an early age, he confessed Christ and joined Springfield Missionary Baptist Church where he served until his health failed. In 2012, he was admitted to Winfield Nursing Home. He never gave up on God and he continued to serve faithfully.
He had a love for fishing, hunting, baseball (especially The Braves), his children, and grandchildren, the children in the neighborhood, family and sitting on his front porch.
He was born November 3, 1924 in Canton, Ohio to the late Alonzo Moore and Alberta Green Arline. One son, one sister, and one brother preceded him in death. He married Mrs. Lodie Bell Gadson on February 14, 1948. She preceded him in death on May 22, 2002.
He leaves to cherish his memories: two daughters: Shirley(John) Page of Brooklet, GA and Cassandra (Freddy) Grimsley of Albany, GA; one son: Edward Moore of Colquitt, GA; four grandchildren: Freddy Grimsley, Jr., Endesha Moore, and Nicholas Grimsley of Albany, GA, Edward Moore, Jr. of Bainbridge, GA; one great granddaughter: Brooklynn Thompson of Albany, GA; one sister: Hattie Smith Williams of Cleveland, Ohio; two goddaughters: Diane Cowart and Tammy Anderson of Newton, GA; a lifetime best friend: Bertha McIntyre of Colquitt, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
