Obituary
Time For All Things. . . . .
A Time To Be Born:
Brother Eugene “Gene” Ferguson Sr. was born on January 14, 1956 in Attapulgus, Georgia to the late Mr. & Mrs. Jafus Ferguson. He was preceded in death by his father Jafus Ferguson; his loving mother Louise D. Ferguson; and his brothers Lonnie J. Ferguson, James D. Ferguson, and Leroy Ferguson.
A Time To Serve:
At an early age, he was converted. He was a member of Smith Grove Missionary Baptist Church of Attapulgus, Georgia.
A Time To Learn:
Eugene “Gene” Ferguson received his education from the public schools of Decatur County, Georgia. He spent 17 years working at Callahan Building Mart, and numerous years in carpentry. In his later years, he developed a passion for salvaging, which he did until the day of his departure.
A Time To Embrace:
“Gene” loved his family dearly, and cherished time spent with family both near and far. After the late passing of his own father, Eugene proudly stood in the gap as a monumental fatherly being for all of his brothers and sisters left behind without question. He also was well known for the genuine love and compassion that he showed towards his loving wife, six beautiful children, and a host of cherished grandchildren. In his eyes, his family was his most prized possession. Eugene had the rare talent of never meeting a stranger, and walking in his calling, he displayed genuine love to each and every person that crossed his path. Our greatest moments with Eugene, will be all of the cherished times and moments that he made us laugh. Eugene Ferguson possessed an embracing, kind, and loving soul; for which, he will always be missed.
A Time To Die
On May 19, 2018, “Gene” made his grand departure only after fully affecting those around him. From our hearts to yours, you will greatly be missed by your siblings, your lovely wife, your wonderful children, and your precious grandchildren. In these last moments, Papa Gene we want you to know that through a lifetime of loving deeds, you will forever be missed. Today and tomorrow, our whole life through, we will always love and cherish you. So Eugene Ferguson, we encourage you to go on ahead and spread your wings. In case we forgot to tell you in life, we want you to know that you did a job well done Gene. Job well done!
A Time To Mourn:
He leaves to cherish his memory a loving and devoted wife (Carolyn Ferguson), whom he met in his teen years and married February 5, 1979. Gene and Carolyn were happily married for 39 years until Gene departed his life. In this union, Gene and Carolyn Ferguson were blessed with a lovely daughter; Donna George (Derrick) and five sons; Eugene Ferguson Jr. (Andrea), Jafus Ferguson (Shakavian), Sylvester Ferguson; Cecil Ferguson (Chacosglo); and Rashawn Ferguson (Jocelyn Beard a loving and supportive Fiance). Gene was the proud grandfather of 9 grandchildren. Seven beautiful granddaughters Alexcia & Nakeivia George; Zandrieka, Maryah, Delia, Jewell, and Natalia Ferguson; and two handsome grandsons Jafus Jr. and Caden Ferguson all of whom loved their “Papa Gene” very dearly. In addition, “Gene” leaves behind five beautiful sisters; Minister Mary Murphy (Lorenzo) of Bainbridge, GA; Diane Whigham (Wayne) of Enterprise, AL; Betty McCray Ferguson (Harold), Gloria Smith (DeWayne) both of Attapulgus, GA; and Carrie Causey of Silver Springs, MD; two loving brothers Frank Ferguson (Corene) of Tallahassee, FL and Willie Roy Ferguson (Mary) of Washington, D.C; seven sisters-in-laws: Linda Sue Ferguson (widowed) of Fowlstown, GA; Carrie Ferguson (widowed) of Donalsonville, GA; Stephanie and Claudine Campbell both of Bainbridge, GA; Mae Hester Williams, Shirley James, and Sylvia Campbell all of Attapulgus, GA; two brothers-in-law: Byron Campbell of Quincy, FL and Michael Campbell of Bainbridge, GA; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, and several other godchildren whom will miss both his charismatic smile and loving heart.
