Obituary for Eula Jackson
Mrs. Eula W. Jackson, loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, sister-in-law and a servant of God, was born in Decatur County on September 20, 1925 to the late Ellis and Helen Douglas Washington.
She attented public school at Hutto Middle School in Bainbridge, GA where she met the love of College where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education. She taught school in Decatur and Coffee counties for a total of thirty-nine years. In December of 1952, she married the late William L. Jackson. This union was blessed with two children: Larry Devonn and Margie Deneise.
She joined Wesley Chapel A.M.E in Bainbridge, GA at an early age, where she served on the following boards: usher, steward, trustee and pastor's aide. She later moved to Columbus and became a faithful member of St. Paul A.M.E. Church until her health declined.
She made many dear friends during her teaching career. She was also a life member of the Order of Eastern Star, #479, an active member of the NAACP and a member of the Retired Teachers Association.
She departed this life on June 25, 2016. Six siblings preceded her in death. Those who will forever cherish her memories are her son, Larry (Eloise) Jackson; a daughter, Margie Philyaw; three grandchildren: Monique, Courtney and Carissa Jackson; a sister, Essie Buckner; two sisters-in-law: Marvene Jackson and Ather Osborne (Bainbridge, GA); a host of nieces, nephews, other relativeand sorrowing friends to include special members from B.S.I.T. Club: Rosa Boyd, Bonnie Grimes and Loretta P. Veal.
