Sister Evelyn Luecinda Burke King was born on May 6, 1962, to James and Annie Ruth Miller Burke. On August 18, 2024, she peacefully gained her heavenly wings.
From an early age, Evelyn committed her life to Christ and became a devoted member of Pilgrim Rest AME Church under the guidance of the late Reverend Asberry James. Evelyn remained a faithful member throughout her life, dedicating her time and talents to the Kitchen Ministry.
Evelyn was known for her strong work ethic and dedication in every role she took on. Over the years, she was employed by Williamson and Dickies, Helen’s Pirate Grove, and the Miller County Neighborhood Service Center, often balancing multiple jobs simultaneously with grace and determination.
She found joy in life through her love for travel and her deep affection for her family, particularly her grandchildren.
Evelyn is now reunited with her beloved granddaughter Angel Mitchell King, great-grandson Jaquan Shaquezz Faulk, Jr. and brother James Edward Burke, Jr.
She leaves behind a loving family to cherish her memory: her parents, James and Annie Ruth Miller Burke; her daughter: Linda King of Bainbridge, GA; two sons: Keith King of Bainbridge, GA, and Richard (Kayla) King, Sr. of Morrow, GA; four sisters, Cassandra Burke, Linda (Kenneth) Grant, Armie Kimble, all of Colquitt, GA, and Franchesa Yancie of Weston, GA; her brother: Maurice Yancie of Virginia; eight grandchildren, including a special granddaughter: Jasmine King; thirteen great-grandchildren; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, sorrowful friends, and a dear friend, Tommy Anderson.
Her legacy of love, faith, and dedication will forever be remembered by those who knew and loved her.
