Obituary for Geraldine A. Carter
Geraldine A. Carter was born to the late Elder James and Edith Austin on June 22, 1933 in Decatur County. She had a daughter to precede her in death: Marlene Louise Carter. She had five siblings to precede her in death: Phyllis, Mary Louise, Irvin, Jonathan, and Caesar. Sister Carter received her education in the Decatur County Public Schools. She was employed at the Charter House Inn in Housekeeping Management. Sister Carter met and married the late Willie Charles Carter, Jr. At an early age, she accepted Christ as her personal Savior. Sister Carter joined the Bethel A.M.E. Church and served faithfully until her health declined. She served in many capacities which included Sunday School Superintendent, Choir Member, Trustee Board, Stewardess Board and Missionary Board. Later in life she joined Nelson Chapel A.M.E. Church, Bainbridge, GA where she served faithfully and was a member of numerous church auxiliaries. Upon her return to Attapulgus, GA she rejoined with Bethel A.M.E. She was very instrumental in planning church fundraisers. She lived to serve the Lord. She was a reliable, devoted and dedicated mother. She was a very dependable and trustworthy friend. She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and, aunt. She will be remembered as very compassionate person who loved with all her heart, unconditionally. "Jerry" as she was affectionately known to her family and friends will be deeply missed. She touched and impacted many lives of others. Servant of God take your well-deserved rest. She fought a good fight to the end. Victory is hers. Our loss is Heaven's gain. Her favorite songs were: "A LILY IN THE VALLEY", "BLESSED ASSURANCE", "TAKE ME TO THE KING" She leaves to cherish her precious memories: A devoted and dedicated daughter, Carla M. Carter, Attapulgus, Georgia; three devoted sons, Larry J. Carter, Sr., Tallahassee, Florida; Terrance V. Carter (Brenda) Bainbridge, Georgia; Jerald R. Carter, Statesboro, Georgia; a devoted God-Daughter, Mary Jeanette Robinson, Bainbridge, Georgia. Six devoted grandchildren, Larry J. Carter, Jr., Aaron R. Carter, Candice M. Sledge all of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Jasmyne O. Samuel of Orlando, Florida, JerRon Robinson of Tallahassee, Florida, and Madyson T. Carter of Bainbridge, Georgia. Two devoted sisters, Marilyn A. Wade and Shirley Shaw (Samuel) both of Ocala, Florida; and a devoted brother, Rev. James B. Austin, Jr. (Mamie), of Attapulgus, Georgia. Four sisters-in-law, Willie R. Smith, Americus, Georgia, Christine Austin, Atlanta, Georgia, Evelyn Austin and Vivian Carter both of Detroit, Michigan and a host great grandchildren, nieces, nephew, cousins, and friends.
