A Celebration of Life

Brother Herbert Jerome Bell was born May 9, 1948 in Bainbridge, Georgia to the late Will Joe Bell and the late Reatha Mae Johnson. He was reared in a loving and Christian home by his grandmother the late Bea Henderson. He accepted Christ at an early age and joined the Nelson Chapel AME church. He attended Hutto High School and graduated in 1967. He served in the United States Army and was a Vietnam Veteran

In 1981 he was married to Joanne Gaines and together they raised the late Danielle Giddens. Herbert was no stranger to people and was affectionately known as "Socrates". Early in his life he was employed with Kiser Chemical Company and The Post Searchlight of Bainbridge, Georgia. Later in his life he moved to Tallahassee, Florida where he became employed with the Tallahassee Democrat Company. While in Tallahassee he became a member of the Tallahassee Veterans Legal Collaboration.

He was very knowledgeable about veteran affairs and was willing to help those in need. He will be truly missed by those who knew him.

He leaves to cherish his memories cousins Don and Von Nelson of Bainbridge, Georgia, Lawrence Mann of Cairo, Georgia and a host of nieces and nephews. A very caring and loving friend Petra Perry of Tallahassee, Florida; special friends: Bobby Jackson, Rev. Al Walker, Rev. O C Williams, Calvin Davis and Paul Fryer and a host of other loving friends.
