Obituary for Horace Brown
The obituary
Brother Horace Brown graciously transitioned from time to eternity on July 6, 2017 surrounded by family. He lived a life which focused on being a faithful husband and compassionate father, sibling, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. First and foremost, however, he was a child of God whose desire was to be faithful servant that represented him with kingdom-quality. His life was guided by the words of Psalm 23. "The Lord is my Shepard. I shall not want, He maketh me to lie down in the green pastures, He leaveth' me beside still waters." His song of praise "He let me live on". Horace was deeply loved and respected by his family. He wore many titles by his grandchildren. He was the son of the late John Arthur and Ethel Brown Parramore. He was a native of Decatur County. He was born April 30, 1930.
He attended Decatur County School and was a member of the Prince of Hall Horace was an advent fan of the Atlanta Braves.
He sought Christ at an early age and joined Mt. Olive AME Church (Mt. Olive community Church). He remained and active and faithful member until his illness and demise.
Horace met the love of his life and was united in holy matrimony to Emma Lizzie Shelmon on June 2, 1956. This beautiful union was blessed for 61 years. To the union they were blessed with 9 children. One which proceeds him in death, two brothers James Brown and Eugene Brown.
He leaves to cherish a beautiful legacy of memories: loving and devoted wife: Emma Lizzie Brown; Sons: Freddie Brown (Glenda); Horace James Brown (Latoya); Dexter Brown and Michael Henry (Grendy); Daughters: Mary Miller (James); Catherine Deverish (Anthony); Jo Ann Wilson (Spencer); Delorise Miller (Dale); Debra Floyd (Christopher); and Lakisha Mitchell (Terry); One loving and devoted sister: Eunice Hundley; Two sister-in-laws: Betty Christian (Robert) and Emma Lee Brown; One brother-in-law: Bishop Nelson: Shelmon (Aretha). 17 grandchildren, 18 great- grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relative and sorrow of friends.
