Obituary for Horace Jackson
Brother Horace Jackson was born on August 18, 1934 to the late Moses Jackson and Flossie Bell Anderson in Bainbridge, Georgia. He attended school in Decatur County and graduated from Hutto High School in 1954 before attending Albany State College (University). Very popular and well known, Horace never met a stranger. He met countless good friends as he worked at several companies before retiring from Bainbridge State Hospital after more than 33 years. It was at his part time job as a taxi driver with Union Cab Company where his personality flourished. Part comedian, story teller, and counselor, Horace could often be found laughing, talking, and joking with the many great friends he met across his lifetime as he
transported them around town.
Horace was a loyal member of Bethlehem Freewill Baptist Church where he faithfully served as an usher.
He was preceded in death by his eldest son Carlos F. Jackson and great-grandson Jamal Malik Gordon
Horace leaves to cherish his memory a loving and devoted wife of 51 years, Bettye Millen Jackson
Two loving sons: LaRae Davis (Lisa), Lithonia, GA and Kelvin Jackson (Christine), Ellenwood, GA; Two daughters: Jennifer Gordon (Malachi), Climax, GA and Veronica Jackson, Conyers, GA; Two Sisters: Charlie Mae Philips, Bainbridge, GA, and Helen Walters, Springfield, MA; Brother: Danny Jackson (Yvette), Dallas, TX; all treasured Horace. A much beloved and adored mother-in-law: Lucy Millen of Conyers, GA has especially fond memories of Horace. Gone but not forgotten, a host of brother and sister in laws, 9 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, special friends and loved ones will miss the delightful charisma bestowed upon them all.
