Irene Marie Austin Scott
Irene Marie Austin Scott, daughter of the late Ulysee and Beulah Sharpton Austin was born inBainbridge, Georgia on October 21, 1942. On the early morning of September 16, 2022, Godvisited Willson Hospice Home in Albany, Georgia and saw fit to call Irene home to be with him.
She confessed to Christ in 1957 and joined Lily Hill Missionary Baptist Church, where she worked faithfully until her health started failing. She attended public schools in the Decatur County school system and graduated from Hutto High School in Bainbridge, GA. She received an Associate Degree in Secretarial Science from Walker Vocational and Commercial College, Jacksonville, Florida. She worked briefly as a Secretary, but she always loved to cook and became a “self-proclaimed CHEF”. She worked many years as a cook/chef, caterer and Food Service Supervisor until retirement at the Bainbridge State Hospital. She was truly the “family cook” and did it with a smile.
Irene was preceded in death by her beloved brother Lloyd Austin.
She leaves to cherish her memories of five brothers: Leroy (Barbara) Austin, George (Miguelita) Austin, Darrious Austin, Julian (Laqueita) Austin and Frederick Austin. Four sisters: Mary Ann Austin, Henrietta Harris, Betty Blash and Eula Austin, six nieces, ten nephews, cousin, Clifford Simons, and a host of other cousins, relatives, friends and neighbors.
