Obituary for J.C. Sanders
J.C. “BUDDY’ SANDERS
The second child to the late Eddie Sanders and Rossie Lee Miller Sanders, J.C. Sanders was born January 7, 1928 in Baker County, Georgia. Throughout the city and beyond, he was known as a person who had a heart after GOD and a sincere love to serve others.
At an early age, J.C. confessed JESUS CHRIST as his LORD AND SAVIOR at Springfield Missionary Baptist Church in Baker County. Later, he joined Union Missionary Baptist Church, was ordained a Deacon and faithfully served in the ministry for over 59 years.
Deacon Sanders united in Holy Matrimony to the love of his life, Helen Grace Lee, on May 8, 1954. Married for over 62 years, he fulfilled the promise of “till death do us part”
A true patriot, Deacon Sanders served in the United States Armed Forces during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Post #502. For over 35 years, he was a member of the Masonic District #12 Sons of Colquitt Lodge #580. Seemingly, never tiring from working, he was employed for several years at Callahan Grocery and retired from Kaiser Chemicals after more than 30 years of service.
Deacon Sanders earned his wings and departed his earthly life on Sunday, November 20, 2016.
The memories shared with him will be forever cherished by his wife, Helen Sanders; three daughters: Vivian Pinkett of McDonough, GA, Verdell Sanders of Kennesaw, GA, and Sharlene Sanders of Woodstock, GA; and one son, Eric Sanders (Keturah) of Bainbridge, GA. He also survived by nine grandchildren; two sisters, Ella Mae Flanders of Bainbridge, GA and Bertha Lee Washington of Tampa, FL; two brothers, Reverend Cleveland Sanders (Helen Denise) of Colquitt, GA and Charles Sanders (Sherry) of Newark, NJ; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and godchildren; and many friends.
