Obituary for Josie T. Edwards
Mother Josie was born on November 6, 1926 to the late David D. Thomas and Annie Patricia Taylor Thomas. She gained her heavenly wings on November 12, 2016.
On December 29, 1948 she joined in holy matrimony to the late Willie “Shine” Edwards.
Mother Josie joined the church at an early age and became a member of Grant Chapel A.M.E. after marriage to her lifelong partner she moved her membership to Dry Springs A.M.E. Church. She served as Sunday school teacher, Missionary President and Guest Speaker on many occasions. She was a member of the St. Thomas Lodge No. 37 Order of Eastern Star for 61 years. Her heart was in serving others. She was faithful until death.
She was employed at ITT for many years.
Preceding her in death were her parents: David D. Thomas and Annie Taylor Thomas; Siblings: Pastor Nathaniel Thomas, Geneva Thomas Smalley, Pastor Willie Griffin, Pastor Levi Thomas, and Ben Edwards.
Leaving to cherish her loving memories loving daughters: Anna Edwards Salters (Johnny) of Detroit, MI and Sherry Edwards Williams, Climax, GA; Sibling: Vera Thomas McGregory and Louisa Thomas Shumon (James) of Bainbridge, GA; Albert Thomas of Miami FL; Zealine Davenport (Pastor Donald) of Tifton, GA; Grandchildren: Latalsha Salters, April Williams, Eric Salters, Ryan Salters, Kralphy Bienaime (Guy), Joshalan Bryant (Jamica Jr.), Sanford “Peter” Williams (Ashley Patterson Friend); Great Grandchildren: Christopher Salters, Jordon James, Aericka Salters, Thomas James, Marcus Davis, Myles Braziel, Trent Salters, Maliyah Williams, Sariya Williams, Kayla Drew Bienaime, Kodi Deuce Bienaime; Great Great Grandchild: JaQuest Salters; nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of sorrowing family and friends.
