Brother Larry Jerome Carter, Sr. was born in Bainbridge, GA, April 26, 1957 and was the second oldest of five children born to the late Willie Charles Carter and Geraldine Austin Carter. He had one sister to precede him in death: Marlene Louise Carter.
A Time To Sow
Brother Larry J. Carter, Sr. received his education from Bainbridge High School. He graduated in 1975. He enlisted in the United States Army and served for numerous years.
A Time To Serve
At an early age he accepted Christ as his personal Savior. Brother Carter joined Nelson Chapel A.M.E. Church at an early age under the leadership Rev. C.E. Shepard. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Tallahassee, Florida.
He was a devoted father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He fought the good fight to the end.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories: Two dedicated and devoted sons: Larry J. Carter, Jr. and Aaron Rashad Carter of Grand Rapids MI; Two dedicated and devoted daughters: Candice M. Sledge of Grand Rapids MI and Jasmyne Samuel of Tallahassee, Fl.; Four devoted grandchildren: Chris K. Robinson, Ya’zarah S. Sledge, Elijah McCoy, and Jay’sonna D. Sledge-Mitchell; One devoted sister: Carla M. Carter; Two devoted brothers: Terrance V. Carter and Jerald R. Carter; One Great Aunt: Beulah Austin; Four Aunts: Marilyn Wade, Willie Ruth Smith, Christine Austin, and Mamie Austin; One uncle: James B. Austin; and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
