Obituary for Leatha Mae Gamble
LEATHA MAE (MONK) GAMBLE was born January 4, 1934 in Attapulgus, Georgia to Ms. Jimmie Lee and Mr. Jeff McKelvey. She was two years of age when her mother passed. She was raised by her aunt, Ms. Elizabeth Harris, who preceded her in death at the age of 102.
Leatha attended Green Shade School. She confessed CHRIST at an early age when she joined Saint Paul Primitive Baptist Church in Attapulgus, Georgia. She was a very active member in the church and sang in the Senior Choir. Her favorite song was "Going on a Long, Long Journey Afterwhile". She loved going to church and was a war-fighting soldier, always girded with her armor ready and willing to run for JE.S,US.
Monk’s favorite pastime hobby was attending and watching baseball games at Dowdell's Field. She loved traveling with the guys whenever possible (thanks guys for including our mom). When there were no games on the field, she enjoyed watching games on television, especially the Atlanta Braves.
