Obituary
Leonard Lamar Edwards, Sr., (August 20, 1943 - July 21, 2022), son of the late Thelma and Only Edwards, was a loving father, husband, grandfather, great-grandfather; brother, uncle, and friend. He attended Hutto High School where he met his high school sweetheart, Allene Delores Jeffery, after graduating in 1961, they became husband and wife. Their 50-year union produced 6 children, Kimberly, Leonard, Jr., Darnell and 2 Debora and Tammie who (preceded him in death).
Leonard accepted Christ at a young age and ensured that his children were reared in a Christian home family attend Nelson Chapel A.M.E. Church every Sunday except 2nd, when they attended his wife's family Church home, Mt Zion Baptist,
He was considered a well-rounded man who never met a stranger and could lay bricks, cultivate a garden and complete soil analysis, all while dropping bits of wisdom to all who'd listen. However, he was fond of his 30-year career with CXS Railroad where he retired in 1991, living in Atlanta, Georgia.
After his wife's long illness and passing he married a second Wife and returned to Nelson Chapel A. M.E. Church where he was faithful until transitioning to his heavenly home.
Brother Leonard leaves to cherish his memories his wife: Pauline Collier Edwards, daughter: Kimberly Edwards (Atlanta, Georgia), 3 sons: Leonard Edwards, Jr., (Atlanta, Georgia), Cedric Edwards (Mary-Schertz) Texas, and Darnell Edwards (Atlanta, Georgia)16 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, 3 sisters: AnnieMerle Cohen-Davis (Bainbridge, Georgia), Mable Bobbitt (Detroit, Michigan), Thelma Lively (Detroit, Michigan), and brother: Eugene Edwards (Bainbridge, Georgia); sister-in-law: Laura Fulton (New Jersey), other and friends and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were inherited through marriage and with whom he enjoyed spending time.
