Missionary Andrea Cooper, affectionately known as Angie, was the fifth of eleven children born to the late Mr. Albert Thomas and Mrs. Albert Thomas in Detroit, Michigan. From the very beginning, Angie was blessed with a loving heart, a compassionate spirit, and an unwavering faith that would become the foundation of her life.
If you knew Angie, there was one thing you could say without hesitation—she loved the Lord. At an early age, she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and united with Greater Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, where she faithfully served until she heard her Master's call. Her life was a beautiful reflection of God's love as she worshipped, prayed, encouraged others, and ministered wherever she was needed.
Angie received her education through the Decatur County School System and proudly graduated from Bainbridge High School in 1986. Throughout her life, she held various positions in the workforce, always displaying dedication, kindness, and a strong work ethic.
One of Angie's greatest joys was serving others. As a volunteer with the Boys & Girls Club of Thomasville, GA she invested her time and heart into the lives of young people, offering encouragement, guidance, and love. Her compassion extended beyond children to the elderly, where she discovered her God-given calling as a caregiver. She lovingly cared for countless senior citizens throughout the community, treating each person with dignity, patience, compassion, empathy, and respect. To Angie, caring for others was never just a job—it was her ministry and her way of sharing Christ's love.
Angie had a heart that welcomed everyone. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, sharing laughter, offering words of encouragement, and always putting the needs of others before her own. Her gentle spirit, beautiful smile, and unwavering faith left an unforgettable impression on everyone she met.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories her beloved siblings: Arthur (Telisa) Powell, Howard Thomas, Earl Thomas, Shindora Woodyard, Nadine Beard, Freddie Thomas, Eddie Thomas, and Annie (Quentin) Wise.
She also leaves her devoted lifelong friend, Jolene Johnson; five loving aunts; her special friend, Walter Howard; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, church family, and many dear friends who will forever treasure the love she shared so freely.
Although Angie's earthly journey has ended, her legacy of faith, compassion, service, and unconditional love will continue to inspire everyone whose life she touched. We take comfort in knowing that she has heard the words every faithful servant longs to hear:
"Well done, good and faithful servant... Enter into the joy of your Lord." Matthew 25:23
Angie's life was a testimony that the greatest gift we can give is love, and through her service to God and others, she leaves behind a legacy that will never be forgotten.
