Life Reflection
Mrs. Lola Mae Walker (affectionately known as Judy) was born June 4, 1937, in Donalsonville, GA. Lola’s parents were Frenchie and Caleb McCarthon. She was raised by her Grandmother Laura Upson, who was former slave. Lola was raised in a loving, but strict environment learning values and faith in God. Lola grew up in a time where the neighbors (the village) looked after each other. Lola gave her life to Christ at an early age at Antioch Freewill Baptist Church in Donalsonville, GA. After marrying, she moved her membership to Salem Freewill Baptist Church in Damascus, GA. Then moved to New Salem Freewill Baptist Church in Bainbridge, GA.
She graduated from Middleton Senior High School, Tampa, Florida. Lola worked for over 20 years at Bainbridge Memorial Hospital and Manor then retired. After retiring, she began working as a volunteer at the Decatur County Training Center as a grandparent to the participants. She was affiliated with the Pride of Bainbridge Eastern Stars Chapter No. 479, a past Worthy Matron.
Lola happily married Ezell Walker Sr. They were married for 55 years. To this union five children were born. Ezell preceded her in death, along with siblings: Carey McCarthon and Elizabeth Boykin, son: Danny Walker, and grandson Hudson Holley.
On Sunday February 20, 2022, Lola transitioned to the Kingdom of God. She leaves to cherish her memories: Tracy Boyd, Birmingham, AL; Sharon (Deedee)Williams, New Haven, CT; Regina Walker Holley (Darnell), Tina Walker Parks (George Henry Jones), Rufus Walker all from Bainbridge, GA; and Darlene Walker Memphis TN; Children in love Tony Wyatt (Jewel), Colquitt, GA; Willie Warren Jr. (Keisha and Tevin), Bainbridge, GA; and Thaddeus Barber (Elizabeth) Donalsonville, GA; God sister: Creasie M.Richardson. Grandchildren: Eric Boyd (Lageana) and Evan Boyd of Birmingham, AL; Shatara Williams of New Haven, CT; Andria Puckerin of Colquitt, GA; Rachel Holley, Latoya Bowen (Monroe Jones), and Tamara Bowen of Atlanta, GA; Roderick Parks and Brittany Bowen of Bainbridge, GA; Valda Parks of Orlando, FL; Dontavious Jones of Tallahassee, FL; Rufus Walker Jr. of Savannah, GA; and Jaden Dixon of Albany, GA; Fourteen great grandchildren and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Longtime friends Birdie Mae Footman, Nell Flanders,Louise Close and Molly Williams , A Devoted Sister-in-law: Dorothy Walker.
