Margell Davis
Truly Blessed and Highly Favored
Sister Margell Davis, beloved and cherished daughter, sister, mother, aunt, grandmother and friend was born on September 20, 1934, in Decatur County, Dell, Georgia to the late Reverend Lovett P. (L.P.) Davis and the late Sarah Emma Mae Smith.
She departed this life for her heavenly home on Friday, June 2, 2023, with her loving son Reverend Alphonso Walker at her bedside.
Margell had a very strong work ethic. As a single mother, at times she was known to work 3-4 jobs to support herself, her children and her family. She always worked two full-time jobs, along with various part-time jobs that she was able to secure for over 41 years.
Margell accepted Christ at an early age, and she always stressed to her children, family and friends the importance of having a church home and developing a personal relationship with God. She was a loyal member (over 41 years), at Burke Avenue Baptist Church, Bronx, New York. Upon her retirement from Wartburg Nursing Home, she moved to St Petersburg, Florida where she became a member of 1st Mt Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church, from 2000-2005. She became a member of Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist from November 13, 2005 until February 2019, when she moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana after the death of her oldest son, Ed. Upon moving to Tallahassee, Florida in February 2022, she became a member of Christ Tabernacle-The Living Word in Bainbridge, Georgia, where she was a loyal member of the Mother’s Board until her death.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Reverend Lovett P. and Sarah Davis, Son: Edgar Walter Walker, Jr., Sisters: Edna Louise Pollock and Isabell Coleman; Brothers: Lovett P. Davis, Jr., Charles Davis, James Davis, and Paul Davis; nephews: Anthony Williams, Thomas Coleman, Eric Coleman, and Lesley Coleman.
She leaves to cherish her memory: Sons: Reverend Alphonso Walker (Debra), LeRonald F. Walker (Barbara), Lamar Coleman, Deric Coleman, and Rudolph Sweet, Daughters: Benevalar Wysteria Riley, Thawhanna Johnson (Kenneth), Vanessa Craven, Gwendolyn Lucas, Hope Pierce (Scott), and Stacy Sanders. Godsons: Dewitt Cooper (Arline), Nathan Tucker and Wayne Coleman. Sisters: Elouise Stanley (Ray), Annie Lois Barker (James), Brother: Rev. Darrel Davis, Sr. (Beverly);
Grandchildren: Shajuanna, Albion, Andre, Nigell, David, Etienne, Siana, Alaina, Courtney, Kiara, Dr. Daniel, Devondre, Morgan, Jasmine, Darien, Austin, Skylar, Marguerite, Darden, Taylor, Jyquaveous, William Johnson, Jr., Tekia, Maurice, Terrell, Tyra, Malena, and Joey, Great Grandchildren; Jalen, Jared, Deonte, Kai, Raziel, Cameron, Terina, Marley, Isabella, Teia, Mia, Niyani, Quamari, Etienne, Khyrian, Tion, Ace, Masiah, Nikayi, Jasiah, Amir, Zenaya, Corday, Lavaughn, Trina, Maurice, Andre, Aaliyah, and Joey, Great Great Grandchildren: Juelz, Jalen Jr., Miyana, Jiovanni, Grayson, Jaden, Tristan, Tiegan; and a host of nieces, nephews, great- nieces, great-nephews, and a multitude of extended family and friends.
