Obituary for Martha Nell Harris
Obituary
Sister Martha Nell Porter Harris was born October 15, 1945 in Jackson, FL to the late Walter and Essie Porter. The Lord called her home on August 27, 2020.
Sister Martha's parents influenced her strong religious beliefs and accepted CHRIST at an early age. She attended Union Baptist Church. She attended Hutto High School in Bainbridge, GA and received her GED.
She held many jobs during her lifetime: Elberta Crate & Box Company, Thomas and Betts, Amoco, and driving the bus for Grady County Head Start until her health failed.
Sister Martha will be truly missed but remember forever in the hearts of family and friends. She loved her family and loved spending time with them especially her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. To the grandchildren and great grandchildren she was affectionately known as “Granny Grand” it made her day for them to come and visit her and she had a nickname for each of them. One thing we can remember about her is that she did not hold her tongue…whatever she felt she let you know it.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Walter and Essie Porter; Brother: Jimmy Lee Porter; Sisters: Mary Alice Parks, Earnestine Porter and Lizzie Porter and grandson: Trent Lamar Cooper.
Sister Martha leaves to cherish her wonderful memories her daughter: Darlene Porter of Climax, GA; Son: Natikita Porter of Bainbridge, GA; grandchildren: Joe (Jamira) Cooper, Jr., Deja (Jackie Crankfield) Cooper, Darrell (Tasia)Porter and Durna Porter all of Bainbridge, GA; great grandchildren: Darrien Porter, Toren Porter, Jayden Westbrooks, Joseph Cooper, Jamarion Cooper , Skylar Brown, Za’quia Porter, A’laila Porter, JoLeigha Cooper and Cooper Crankfield; Sisters: Pansey Lowe, Estella Parks and Dorothy McCray all of Bainbridge, GA; Brother: Eugene Porter of Bainbridge GA; and a host of sorrowing family and friends.
