Obituary for Minister Delois J. Miller
Minister Delois Josephine Kinder Grimsley Miller, the daughter of the late Elbert Kinder and Dr. Grace Sheffield Kinder Moore, was born in Miller County, Georgia on October 11, 1928. She was the older of two girls in the family. In her early youth, Minister Miller confessed Christ and joined the Shiloh AME Church in Decatur County, Georgia. As a young lady, she met and joined in Holy Matrimony to Wilmon Grimsley. Unto this union, one daughter was born. In later years, she was joined in matrimony to Rev. Weston J. Miller, who preceded her in death in May, 1993. Minister Miller received her elementary education in the schools of Miller County. She received her high school education from Union Normal High in Bainbridge, Georgia. After high school, she entered Albany State College in Albany, Georgia, where she received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education in 1948. Minister Miller entered the teaching profession in 1946. During her career, she did further studies in education at Florida A & M University in Tallahassee, Florida and at Valdosta State University in Valdosta, Georgia. However, after thirty-two years of being in the teaching profession, she retired. Minister Miller was an active member at Shiloh AME Church, where she served as a trustee, a stewardess, choir member, and taught Sunday School over fifty years. She served in many of these positions until she answered the call as a minister of the gospel in March, 1998. When her health started failing, Minister Miller moved to Orange Park, Florida to live with her son-in-law and daughter. She then joined St. John Missionary Baptist Church under Pastor C. Edward Preston where she helped with the Deaconess Ministry. She later moved with her family to Dallas, Georgia and joined Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Marietta, Georgia under Pastor Benjamin Lockhart, Jr. On Sunday afternoon, 9 November, God called Minister Miller home. She leaves to cherish her memories her daughter: Mrs. Sonja Grimsley Fambro (Lewis) of Dallas, GA; step daughter, Mrs. Brenda Sheffield (El-Ja)Step-son: Mr. Charles Miller (Maybelle) of Bainbridge, GA; Onesister: Mrs. Grace K. May, of Bainbridge, GA; Two granddaughters: Mrs. Tamila Freeman (Ronald) of Norfolk, VA and Mrs. Terria Nesmith (Derrell) of Acworth, GA; One nephew: Mr. Alan D. May of Chamblee, GA; One niece: Miss Korie Seagull of Tallahassee, FL; Two step- granddaughters: Mrs. Vanessa Thomas (Keithon), Miss Natasha Mclemore of Albany, GA and One step- grandson: Jeremy Miller of Bainbridge, GA; Four great grands and five step-great grands: Two great-great grands. Six step-great-great grands, and many sorrowing family and friends. ��
