Obituary for Minnie Lee Kelly
Reflections of Life
SISTER MINNIE LEE HAYES KELLY was born on August 4, 1946 to the late Herbert Hayes and the late Minnie Pearl Bailey Hayes Jackson in Baker County, Georgia. She was baptized at an early age and remained a member of Springfield Missionary Baptist Church until the Lord called her home. She was the second of seven siblings.
Minnie received her high school diploma from Baker County High School in 1964 and married David Kelly in 1965, who preceded her in death. To that union, one son, David Kelly was born.
Minnie was raised by her grandfather, the late Lucious Bailey and grandmother, the late Charlie Mae Washington Bailey. She held many positions in her working life including a seamstress at Donnie Mills, a welder at Thomas and Betts, and finally retiring from Walmart as a greeter. During her working tenure, she met and made many friends.
Minnie was a dedicated and faithful member of the Springfield Missionary Baptist Church Choir and the Union Missionary Baptist Mass Choir. She was known for always being on time and for her that meant being 15 minutes early. She loved to be with her family and friends and she was one anyone could depend on.
Preceding her in death two sisters: Earnestyne Collier and Mildred Jackson, one brother: Leonard Hayes.
Minnie leaves to cherish her memories one loving and devoted son: David Kelly of Iron City, GA; two sisters: Sandra Hudson of Iron City, GA; and Christine Hawkins of Colquitt, GA; one brother, Lucious George Hayes of Baker County, GA; Six (6) grandchildren; Cherelle Kelly, Shadelle Kelly, David A. Kelly, Jr., Jeremy Kelly, all of Bainbridge, GA, and Kevonte Kelly and Quadashia Kelly of California. 5 great grandchildren. She had three very special friends, Enzie Hopson, Annie McIntyre, and Geraldine McNair. She had a very special “cousinship” with Louis Coleman. She also leaves a host of nieces and nephews to cherish her memory.
