Obituary for Nikki Venisee
Nikki Macharia Venisee was born on October 22, 1972 in Fort Dix, New Jersey. She was the oldest child of Mr. Clinton and Mrs. Mary Venisee. She was the sibling to Banga Vasti Venisee and the proud aunt of Nicholas and Antonio Venisee. She was educated in the Decatur County School system where she enjoyed excelling in academics, swimming, lifeguarding, cheerleading, tennis and a host of other activities. As a youth, she joined the First African Baptist Church under the pastorate of Rev. Giles and served on the First African Baptist Church Junior Board and was Sunday School Secretary. After graduating from Bainbridge High School in 1991, Nikki attended the University of Georgia and subsequently her post-secondary education as a 1997 cum laude graduate of Albany State University with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. In 1993, Nikki served on the Bainbridge Career Board. She interned with the Dougherty county Juvenile Court and Probation Office, Decatur County Correctional Facility and with the U.S. Department of Transportation. Upon graduation, Nikki relocated to West Florida to pursue a career in Law Enforcement with the Florida Department of Corrections, after which she returned to Albany State University as a graduate fellow, and with the Decatur County Sheriff's Office. She advanced her law enforcement career as a deputy sheriff with the Dougherty County Sheriff's Department, Albany, Georgia under the leadership of Sheriff Jacquline Barrett, Atlanta, Georgia. She also served as supervisor for America's Counseling Service, Inc. in Americus, Georgia and as a pretrial release officer for Fulton County Superior courts. In June 2004, Nikki became an alumnus of alumnus of Troy State University by receiving her Master's degree in Public Administration with a concentration in Criminal Justice. She was employed with the Georgia Department of Human Resources- Office of Child Protection as an Investigator of Child Abuse and Neglect. While in Atlanta, Nikki was a faithful servant of Voices of Faith Ministries in Stone Mountain, Georgia under the pastoral leadership of Bishop Gary Hawkins, Sr. In 2009 Nikki became a doctoral candidate in the area of Public and Community Health while employed with DHR (Metro Atlanta) as a Social Services Supervisor and SACWIS Facilitator. In March 2011, Nikki opened The Empowerment Academy in Bainbridge, Georgia, a multifaceted social services agency, and held a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony in April of 2011. The primary goal of the organization was to provide services to Georgia's citizens that may not otherwise has access due to geographical location, socio-economics or because of cultural or social barriers. The empowerment Academy offered the Georgia DUI Risk Reduction Program located at 711 E. Shotwell Street, suite B. The program was available to any person convicted of DUI, possession of illegal substances or Boating under the influence (BUI) in the state of Georgia. The Risk of Reduction Program consisted of two components: the Needs Survey and the Intervention Components: the Needs Survey and the Intervention Component. The company was also DOT certified to perform drug screens. Screens were collected at the office and specimens were tested by LABCORP to ensure accuracy and appropriate chain of custody. This past year, The Empowerment Academy also partnered with the Decatur County School System and the 21st Century Tutorial program. Nikki leaves to cherish her memories a son, Clinton Matthew, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Venisee, a brother Banga Venisee, nephews, Nicholas and Antonio, aunts, Doris Cosby, Martha Pearson, Freda Venisee, One great aunt, Ethel P. Bowers, One Uncle, Edward Venisee, one sister-in-law, Monique Venisee, several cousins, a devoted church family, many loving friends, and co-workers.
