Obituary for Ola Mae Harris

Deaconess Ola Mae Harris was born January 8, 1938 in Calhoun County, Georgia to the Late Josh and Annie Lou Denson. From this union 9 children were born; the Late J.W. Denson, Jacksonville, FL; Laurene Austin (the Late Billy Austin), Cocoa Beach, FL; Roy Denson (Margaret), Lake City, FL; Annie Ruth Wilson (the Late Ulysses Wilson) Albany, GA; the Late Eddie Jean Slaughter (Robert), Largo, FL; Hattie Lois McAffee (Willie), Pinellas Park, FL; Daniel Denson (Edith), Bainbridge, GA; and the Late Brenda Denson. Sister Harris accepted Christ at an early age and was a longtime member of St. Thomas Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as a Deaconess until her untimely death.

Sister Harris was united in holy matrimony to the Late Reverend W.H. Randall, Sr. in 1968 and was the mother of 13 children. She was preceded in death by the Late Reverend W.H. Randall, the Late John Denson, the Late Wanda Randall, and the Late James Randall. She was survived by Ludell Dinkins (the Late James Dinkins), Fort Valley, GA; Rev. William H. Randall, Jr. (the Late Mary Randall) Jacksonville, FL; Sheila Brown (the Late John Brown), Savannah, GA; David Denson(Linda), St. Petersburg, FL; Fred Denson, Climax, GA; Henry Denson(Melanese), Tulsa, OK; Alvin Denson (Donna), Charlotte, NC; Ricky Denson, Pinellas Park, FL; Joseph Randall (Pamela), Colquitt, GA; and Ronnie Randall(Tonda), Climax, GA.

Mrs. Ola Mae Harris was a dedicated employee of the Decatur County School System. She began her career at Climax Elementary School in 1980 and ended her time working at Potter Street Elementary in 2000. The Decatur County Schools School Nutrition Department allowed her to share her talents of preparing meals that nourished the students' bodies while the educators developed their minds. She leaves behind many friends who never ended their relationship and were close, until the very end, like Mrs. Rita Wright and Mrs. Euzera Stubbs.

Deaconess Harris was married to the Late Deacon Johnnie C. Harris, Sr. in 1997. She was the step-mother to 6; Charles Harris, the Late Johnnie C. Harris, Jr. (the Late Marilyn Harris), Catherine Harris-Slappey, Glenda Harris-Clem, Donald Harris, and Tony Harris (Tammy). From both of these unions 32 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren were born.

In addition to her immediate family Sister Harris leaves a host of friends, co-workers, and loved-ones. The names are too many to list without inevitably missing someone. To all who have had their lives touched by this loving soul, bless you and thank you for the role you played in her life. Thank You All!
