Obituary
Ms. Pearl Lee Washington Borden affectionately known as "Gatey" was born November 17, 1943 to the late Mr. Emory and Rachel Washington Parrish in Bainbridge, Georgia. On December 15, 2020, God saw fit to grant "Gatey" her heavenly wings.
Pearl accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age. Pearl was a dedicated member of Adams Chapel M.B. Church where she served on the Usher ministry, kitchen ministry until her health began to fail. She loved to do her solos in her church.
Pearl loved to bake her famous sour cream pound cakes. Pearl loved her children, grandchildren, her sisters and brothers. Pearl was always willing to help others. She would always tell her children and grandchildren to be nice to people and treat everyone right no matter how they treat, you just do what's right.
Pearl's employment history includes working at Williamson Dickies sewing factory, lastly Bainbridge State Hospital until her health began to fail so she retired.
Pearl was once united in Holy matrimony to the late Arthur Lee Borden Sr. and to this union three children were born.
Pearl is preceded in death by her parents Emory and Rachel Washington Parish; siblings: Emory Jr., Sam, Walter, Willie, Eugene, George, Lena and Myra; Two son-in-laws: Nathaniel Dennis and Darryl Edwards.
She leaves to cherish her memories three children: Pamela Edwards, John (Cynthia) Borden of Midway, FL; Stephanie Denise her caretaker; She also leaves to cherish her memories her brothers: Bobby (Sylvia) Washington, James Parrish of Bainbridge, GA; Robert (Shirley) Washington of Augusta, GA; Sisters: Minnie S. Haire of Columbus, GA; Peggy (Johnny) Perkins Jones, Reatha (Emory) Middleton of Bainbridge, GA; Julia Floyd of Rochester, NY; her loving grandchildren, her bonus great grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her Godchildren: Debra Riley and Lashea Robinson Ellison; Her best friend Betty Guthrie; A host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
