Obituary for Pearlie Mae Shoumon
Sister Pearlie Mae Shoumon, was born May 20, 1959 in Colquitt, GA to the late Mr. Orlando and Mrs. Geneva Huntley.
Pearlie accepted Christ at an early age an became a member of White Pond F. W. Baptist Church in Miller County years later Pearlie moved her membership to Christ Holiness Church in Colquitt GA when she faithfully served as Assistant Pastor, Sunday School Teacher, Bible Study Teacher and Song Leader.
Pearlie was a 1977 graduate of Miller County High School. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from Albany State University and attended Valdosta State University where she received her Masters of Social Work.
Pearlie was married to Mr. Tony Shoumon on January 9, 1990.
Pearlie was known and loved by many. Throughout her life she had has a positive influence on so many lives. To her grand kids, she was simply called”GiGi”. To her nieces and nephews and host of unofficially adopted children she was a counselor, a confidante, a mentor, a disciplinarian and a friend. To others she was the book worm/school teacher, if you needed help with history, math, theology, biology, she was the one to call. To her clientele she was affectionately known as momma Shoumon. Her church and Pastor, she was Minister Shoumon. Although she was called many names she always answered the same, with a kind heart and a loving smile.
She was preceded in death by her father Mr. Orlando Huntley, mother Mrs. Geneva Huntley and her brother Mr. Arthur Huntley.
She leaves to cherish her everlasting memories daughter: Ms. Teaila Walton (Herman); Son: Mr. Antonio “Bo” Huntley (Sarah); Eight grandchildren: Zamiyah Ofton, Ahzaria Huntley, Rihanna Buggs, Antonio Huntley, Amarion Huntley, Adrian Huntley, Nathan Huntley and Austin Huntley; Six Siblings: Mrs. Jennie Marshall (Robert), Mrs. Mary Reddick, Mrs. Martha Brown (Arlester), Mr. Dubert Huntley (Ella), Ms. Ruth Ann Hicks and Mrs. Cora Halliburton (John); Aunt: Mrs. Rachel Carter; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
