Obituary for Roberta Cannon
Remembering “Berta”
Roberta Mae Cannon was the daughter of the late Ms. Lillie Mae Faggs and the late Mr. Zema Florence. She was born in Bainbridge, Georgia on November 21, 1952 and died on May 5, 2021 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. She was married to Franklin Cannon, during which time she lived in Edison and New Brunswick, New Jersey; Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and Duncanville, Alabama.
“Berta” was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses at the Light Bearers’ District Convention in the summer of 1992. Her favorite song was entitled, “Life Without End At Last,”
She was affectionately known as ‘MOM’ because she was everybody’s mother; Berta was a selfless person who was willing to help others, always looking out for those in need.
She worked several years as a Nurse’s Aide, caring for the elderly. She loved crocheting, interior decorating, cooking meals for others and experimenting with new recipes. Berta was especially fond of her grandchildren. They were the love of her life. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends that knew her.
She leaves to cherish her memory four children: Fejeran Florence (Kendrall) Catasaqua, PA; Ikbakima Cannon (Lakisha) Tuscaloosa, AL; Amelia Cannon, Duncanville, AL; Rayesha Jordan (Lewis, Jr.), Tuscaloosa, AL; Three brothers: Fred Sylvester Martin (Annie), Narania, FL; Lashawn Robinson (Ashley), Bainbridge, GA; The late Jimmy Mackey, Bainbridge, GA; Eight sisters: Sarah Ann Cooper, Bainbridge, GA; Mary Chambers (the late John Chambers); Woodbridge, NJ; Jeanette Samuel (Orlando) of Bainbridge, GA; Jeanice Faggs, Bainbridge, GA; Joyce, Williams (Clifford), Bainbridge, GA; Juana Denise Rangel (Armando), Bainbridge, GA; Elaine Thomas (Michael), Warner Robins, GA; Shea Dancer (Jeff), Leesburg, GA; Two uncles: Bufford Gaines and Johnny Gaines, Jr. (Helen), both of Bainbridge, GA; Three aunts: Lula Mae Burke and Joann Gaines Bell, both of Bainbridge, GA and the late Roberta Jackson of Wilmington Delaware; 14 grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews as well as many other sorrowing friends and family.
