Obituary for Roger Handford
Roger Handford died on Friday, May 1, 2015 at home surrounded by his loving family and friends at the age of 55. Roger Handford, the son of the late Booker T. Handford and Anna Handford was born on May 24, 1959 and raised in Donalsonville, GA. Roger graduated in 1978 from Seminole County High School in Donalsonville, GA. He was a very loving and honest person as a brother and friend. Whenever a person saw Roger, he always had a beautiful and loving smile on his face. His favorite hobby was watching sports especially attending the home games of the Florida State University Football Team (The "Seminoles" aka The "Noles"). He worked many years as a supervisor employee of Costal Cold Storage of Donalsonville, GA. At an early age, he confessed Christ and joined Galilee Missionary Baptist Church of Donalsonville, Georgia. Roger remained a faithful servant of his church until his death. Roger was the youngest sibling of (11) eleven children. Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Anna and Booker T. Handford, Sr. and two (2) brothers, EI D. Handford and Booker T. Handford, Jr. In addition, his maternal grandparents, Gussie Jones and Henry Christian, Sr; paternal grandparents, Rose Handford and Clarence Hawkins; Roger Handford leaves to cherish his memory within their hearts and minds, two (2) brothers, Willie C. (Annette) Henry and James Handford of Dothan, AL; and six (6) sisters, Grace Finney of East Orange, NJ; Rosalie Powell of Newark, NJ; Annie D. Handford, Annie P. Kimble, Ethel Williams and Dorothy J. Brown (John Paul) of Donalsonville, GA; and one (1) aunt Liza (John) Parks of Donalsonville, GA. One uncle, Bobby Handford of Chicago, IL and one niece whom he raised, Shakedia Williams and one great-niece, Charmaine Smith of Donalsonville, GA. God Sister: Evelyn Hughes (Kenneth) and Special Friends: Janis Martin, Earnest Jackson, Ester Grooms, Ben Williams and Irving Smith and a host of special nieces, nephews and cousins.
