Obituary for Ruth Brown Thomas
Mrs. Ruth Brown Thomas was born on June16, 1931 in Faceville,Ga. to the late Charlie & Ethel Brown. Her early education took place in Faceville and Attapulgus Ga. Ruth lived most of her life in Attapulgus, Ga. She married Mr. Van S. Thomas on August 10, 1950, and celebrated 64 years of marriage and faithfully parented Five (5) children during this union. She was a Daughter, Sister, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Aunt, Friend, Cousin, and Sister in Christ who departed this earthly home headed for her Eternal Home in Glory with reservations in hand and her expected arrival early in the morning on Thursday, August 14, 2014 at 2:30 AM. To know her you would love her, she had a gentle spirit and loved to be around her family. She had many Friends that she touched and left a loving and lasting impression on them, that will last for many years to come. She retired as a Dietitian for the Decatur County School System where she served for many years. She was a member of the Lamar Street Church of Christ, Bainbridge, Ga. where she worked and served faithfully in the Church. She enjoyed the fellowship of her pastor, brothers and sisters until her Health began to fail as she struggled with Heart Problems up to her time of departure. She was preceded in death by four Sisters, one brother and one sister-in-law. She leaves to cherish her memories, her Husband, Van S. Thomas, Her Sister, Mrs. Fannie Pinkney, Cairo, Ga., Her sons, Lawrence B. Thomasof Attapulgus, Ga., and Bremen D. Thomas, from Cairo, Ga., Her Daughters, Ellen Hobbs, Merlinda Thomas, both from Attapulgus, Ga. and Vernesta Mosley from Alexandria, Va., and one step-daughter Yvonne Thomas from Newark, NJ. She also leaves one daughter-in law Rochelle Thomas of Attapulgus, Ga. and one son-in-law Roy Hobbs Jr. from Des Moines, Iowa, two devoted sister-in-laws Mrs. Dorothy Brown, from Valdosta, Ga. and Mrs. Nettie Patrick from West Palm Beach, FL,Nine(9) grand children, three (3) great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind many beloved cousins and a host of many friends and love ones.
