In loving memory of Sister Shawn Renee Williams Chandler
Sister Shawn Renee William Chandler, a woman of faith, compassion, generosity, and a guiding light to her family, transitioned from this earthly life on Friday, November 7, 2025.
Shawn was born April 17, 1970 to Sandra Williams-Christian and the late Joseph E. Wright, Sr. Shawn was raised in a Christian home with her grandmother, the late Jennie Louise Williams, and her aunts, the late Cynthia "Bay-Bay” Williams and Anita Williams.
Shawn professed her faith and hope in Jesus Christ at an early age.
Shawn received her formal education through the Decatur County School System where she graduated from Bainbridge High School in the class of 1989. She furthered her education at Valdosta State University and Georgia Military College; receiving her Bachelor of Social Work. Shawn later received her Masters in Social Work from Grand Canyon University. Shawn was employed at Mcintosh Trail Community Service Board in Griffin, GA. Shawn’s employer and the clients she served valued her and her honesty. Shawn had an uncanny ability to listen without judgment and offering effective advice. As a natural mentor, she was known for her patience, love for people and her wisdom.
Shawn met the love of her life, James Chandler, and they were joined in holy matrimony on July 27, 2009. Shawn and James have one son; Jamil Chandler.
Shawn was dedicated to her faith and an active member of the following organizations: True Level Chapter #588, Order of Eastern Stars, PHA, Atlantic Masonic District 3- East, Makeda Court #8, Ladies of the Circle of Perfection, PHA, Griffin, GA, Lady. Nazarene #7, Cyrene Crusaders, PHA, Griffin, GA; Vanda T. Patton, Priorate #8, PYCH, PHA and National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Stone Mountain, Lithonia Chapter.
Sister Shawn Renee Williams-Chandler memory will be forever treasured by her beloved and devoted husband: James Chandler; her mother; Sandra Williams Christian; her son: Jamil Chandler (Ranada); Reared as siblings: Tonja Williams, Ira Lee Florence, Jr., Gramodius Williams Sr., Alexis Williams, Chundra Williams-Lawhorn(Daron) Napoleon Williams (Karen) Ernest Williams (Lashana); Grandchildren: Jhamal Chandler, Raina Chandler, Raziyah Chandler; Aunts: Anita Williams; Uncle: Tyrone "Bo" Baulkman; Mother-in-law: Edna Chandler; Brother-in-law: Michael Chandler( Pam); Siblings: Francelia Barber, Joseph Edward Wright Jr., Tangela Harris, Stacey Akins, China Rogers; Special Friend: Tamara Zanders; a host of special nephews, nieces, cousins and Sorrowing family and friends.
